mod_rewrite not working

.htaccess mod_rewrite will not work unless you have the apache2 config correct

2 things to look for:

  1. AllowOverride All for the webroot
  2. LoadModule rewrite_module modules/ is not commented out

SSL on Wamp Server (Self-Signed and Godaddy)

It took some doing but got it going thanks to this tutorial...
SSL on Wamp

Godaddy SSL:

Change the httpd-ssl.conf and setup folders as described in the Self-Signed section, then
Request for Certificate
Install Certificate

In cmd:
cd\ (or where ever you want the files to go)
(the next command is all one long command)
C:\wamp\bin\apache\apache2.2.22\bin\openssl req -config "C:\wamp\bin\apache\apache2.2.22\conf\openssl.cnf" -new -newkey rsa:2048 -nodes -keyout mydomain.key -out mydomain.csr

Note: If you don't use the -config you will get an error saying "Unable to load config info from /usr/local/ssl/openssl.cnf"

Files will go to your current folder in cmd(in this case C:\).
Copy the key into the C:\wamp\OpenSSL\certs
copy the PEM into the C:\wamp\OpenSSL\private
Submit the csr and get certificate from your certifcate provider (Godaddy)
Once downloaded, place your crt and bundle in C:\wamp\OpenSSL\cert
Restart WAMP

Google OpenId with Hostgator

I was trying to use Google OpenId to allow people to login with their Google account.  It made the request correctly to Google but on it's way back it said it was FORBIDDEN.

It turns out that it is a security setting that has to be changed on Hostgator's side.  I sent a ticket and within 10 minutes they had me up and going.  They said "it was hitting one of the mod security rules on the server which has now been whitelisted"
